Position Summary:
The Bookstore Stocker supports the daily operations of the college bookstore by receiving, organizing, and stocking merchandise, textbooks, supplies, and other inventory for Gordon State College. This role ensures shelves are full, displays are neat, and products are easy for students, staff, and visitors to find. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment, especially during peak periods such as the beginning of each semester.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and unload incoming shipments of books, apparel, school supplies, and merchandise
Organize and stock products on shelves, tables, and displays according to plan-o-grams and store standards
Rotate products to ensure first-in / first-out inventory flow and remove damaged or outdated items
Maintain clean, orderly, and appealing sales floor and stockroom areas
Assist with inventory counts, tagging, labeling, and pricing of merchandise
Restock high-demand items throughout the day and inform management of low inventory levels
Provide friendly customer service by helping students and staff locate items
Support seasonal textbook rush by organizing course materials and maintaining textbook shelves
Follow all safety procedures when lifting, storing, and stocking inventory
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors (e.g., assisting at checkout during busy times)
Monday- Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM $14/hr (two week assignment)
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; prior retail or stock experience preferred
Ability to lift 30–50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks
Excellent organization, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and peak semester periods
