Pay Range $63,600 / yr – $97,900 / yr Overview This unique role will serve dual functions of program coordination and training development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing engaging learning experiences for the District. In addition, the candidate will oversee and coordinate MSD’s apprenticeship programs. The Instructional Designer will serve as the main point of contact for the programs and collaborate with subject matter experts to create educational materials that enhance employee skills and knowledge, utilizing a range of technologies and instructional design models. Essential Functions Instructional Design & Development: Create and develop effective, engaging, and learner‑centric training programs and courses for both in‑person and online delivery. Use instructional design frameworks to create learning materials such as course outlines, storyboards, scripts, e‑Learning modules, instructor‑led training, and assessments. Integrate multimedia, simulations, and interactive learning elements to enhance engagement and retention. LMS Management: Design and upload course content to the company’s LMS, ensuring all materials are accessible and easy to navigate. Monitor course participation and learner progress, providing reports on completion and effectiveness. Evaluation & Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics. Use data to continuously improve and refine instructional content and delivery methods. Collaboration & Consultation: Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), supervisors, managers, and other stakeholders to identify learning objectives and translate them into impactful training content. Program Management: Plan, implement, and evaluate apprenticeship programs. Track and report on program progress to stakeholders. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain program documentation, including agreements and all program materials. Prepare and present progress updates to leadership and other stakeholders. Three (3) years in developing training curriculum and training programs for adult learners. Three (3) years’ experience in instructional design. Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of instructional design models and best practices. Proficiency with e‑Learning development tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop CS6, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia). Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS). Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving abilities. Certification in Instructional Design or e‑Learning development (e.g., ATD, ISPI, or similar). Experience with video and multimedia production tools is a plus. Special Requirements Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state in which the employee resides. Pursuant to MSD’s “Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures,” this position has been designated as non‑safety‑sensitive and the candidate must pass a Non‑D.O.T. Drug Test. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
