Overview

Inventory Specialist at Walgreens. Base pay range: $17.00/hr - $19.00/hr.

Responsibilities
  • Execute, monitor, and train inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire store, including front end and pharmacy. Support pharmacy inventory management activities (receiving, counting, ordering, facilitating returns). Champion On-Shelf Availability and ensure accuracy of planograms; manage receiving, counting, pricing, returns, and all in-store inventory processes.
  • Review and coordinate the proper use of reports and system applications impacting front end and pharmacy on-hand balances and pricing.
  • Execute and maintain front end and pharmacy asset protection techniques; file claims for warehouse and vendor overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods including prescription drugs.
  • In designated stores, open/close the store in the absence of management, including systems start-up, cash handling, cashier responsibilities, and ensuring the floor and stock room are ready for the business day.
  • Engage customers, resolve issues, and coach team members on customer service best practices to deliver a positive experience.
  • Execute and coach warehouse and vendor inventory management processes, including creating, reviewing, and receiving orders; verify deliveries and postings of pharmacy shipments; conduct end-to-end On-Shelf Availability (OSA) processes for planogrammed departments; manage disposals, call-ins, and vendor returns.
  • Manage pharmaceutical inventory activities under pharmacist-in-charge supervision, including recalls, vendor returns, and damaged salvage returns; verify postings of pharmacy and prescription claims.
  • Complete pricing activities, including price changes, markdowns, and signage; ensure accurate pricing and regulatory compliance. Support front end and pharmacy ordering and monitor for excessive orders; maintain inventory records and prep for physical inventory.
  • Assist in inventory maintenance across stockroom and shelves; ensure compliance with state/local laws for regulated products (e.g., alcohol and tobacco).
  • Assist with cycles and physical inventory preparation, including floor, stockroom, and pharmacy readiness; supervise package deliveries and pickups as needed.
  • Serve as leader on duty in designated stores, manage POS-related tasks, and handle returns, refunds, and cash handling as required; maintain respectful coworker relationships and follow company policies.
  • Complete any additional assigned inventory-related tasks and participate in continuous training.
Training & Personal Development
  • Attend company trainings and complete e-learning modules, including safety training. Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by the state.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Six months of prior Walgreens experience (internal) or one year of prior retail experience (external).
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Internal candidates: Achieving expectations rating on last performance review and no disciplinary actions in the previous 12 months.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task and execute.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and implementing solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.
  • Prior Walgreens experience with an evaluation on file.
